Argentine-Spanish freelance documentary photographer and journalist with 10 years of experience specializing in breaking news, documentary stories and teaching based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

Nicolás has always worked on social issues related to life and death, such as memory and remembrance: the work process of a small family funeral home; women who give birth under violence in public hospitals in Argentina; terrorist acts in Spain and France; doctors being heroes in the world of organ transplants; the review of migratory routes, the reconstruction of the history of his Spanish grandfather during the Spanish Civil War and the dictatorship, neighborhood groups that organized themselves to help the most affected people by the pandemic.
In Buenos Aires, Argentina, he did the career of journalism at TEA Institute and at Universidad del Salvador. After that, he was trained in photojournalism, documentary photography and studio photography at the Association of Photojournalists of the Argentine Republic (A.R.G.R.A.). In 2014, he moved to Barcelona after being honored with two scholarships in photojournalism and digital post-processing at GrisArt and the Documentary Photography Center (CFD) at the same time. Since then, Nicolás is based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
As a freelance photographer, has done last-minute coverage for international news agencies such as Deutsche Presse Agentur (DPA) from Germany, Getty Images from the United Kingdom and Sipa Press from France. At the same time, he has collaborated as a photographer for the TV platform Movistar+. In 2017, his coverage of a terrorist attack in Barcelona was specially published and recognized by major media such as The Guardian, The New York Times, Le Figaro and The New Yorker. In 2021, his documentation of the COVID-19 pandemic was selected to be part of the Spanish photojournalists archive «Archivo Covid».
Nicolás also specializes in shooting social events, models and family portraits sessions and corporative photography. He has been given more than 400 tours and photography workshops during the last 8 years so far to participants of all levels and ages in the cities of Barcelona, London and Buenos Aires.
His works were shown or selected in festivals such as Visa pour l’Image (Asociation Nationale de Iconographers), Colectania Foundation, Docfield Documentary Festival, Paraty em Foco Festival, Photogenic Festival, PhotOn Festival, Latin America Fotografia, Archivo Covidand GrisArt. His publications include media as The New York Times, The Guardian, The New Yorker, Le Figaro, Paris Match, BBC, CNN, Stern, Der Spiegel, Die Welt, El País, La Vanguardia and La Nación, among many others. Currently, he is a contributor to the Institut Europeu de la Mediterrània (IEMed) of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia.
